Tips for conversation on Sexual Content (11-14):
Explain to your child that you were notified that someone had made sexualized comments to them or other gamers they were playing with and see how they’re feeling about it. Offer your support and explain that some players may use sexual comments to exert power, which is absolutely unacceptable. Let them know that they can block/report the gamer.
Although your friends may believe they’re being humorous or impressive, it’s essential to understand that words have power, and repeating sexual insults is inherently demeaning.
If this behavior continues encourage your child to reassess whether they find the game (or the community of players) enjoyable and welcoming. I suggest taking a break from that specific game for a while.
