Your child was involved in a conversation about drugs.
Tips for Conversation
Today kids are exposed more and more to risky online behaviors, including substance use. Criminals are looking for young kids and may offer to help them in a game and in return ask them to buy or sell drugs. Kids may also feel pressured to try drugs by their peers.
Tips on how to start the conversation with your child:
- You should start a conversation with your child and verify who they spoke with and what the context of the conversation was.
- You can use this guide from the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Department of Education on how to speak with your child about drugs. https://www.getsmartaboutdrugs.gov/publication/growing-drug-free-parents-guide-substance-use-prevention (preschoolers page 31, kids age 6-10 page 32, kids age 11-14 page 34)
