Tips for conversation about Hate Speech (11-14):
Your child used offensive language against another player based on their gender, race, or religion. Ask your child if they understand what hate speech is (i.e., prejudice against someone for their race, gender, nationality, religion, or sexual orientation). Talk with your child about the hurtful impact of these expressions and explain that even if other players are expressing hate speech, it’s wrong and you consider it discrimination. Remind your child of your expectations for kindness and respect in gaming. Advise them not to say something online that they wouldn’t say face-to-face.
